It is so easy to get lost in the world of professional sports. The games are addicting, the athletes are elite, and the different major sports are constantly broadcast to us. Through our passion for the sport we get familiar with the legends: Derek Jeter, Peyton Manning, Barry Sanders, and Tiger Woods. What we don’t get familiar with, and often times flat out forget, are the busts. The guys that had all of the potential in the world but failed in spectacular fashion. It is those stories that can also capture our imagination. Here is a short list of the biggest sports busts in all of sports history!

Darko Milicic – C – Detroit Pistons

Fans of the NBA will look back on the 2003 Rookie Draft as one of the most stacked selection years of all time. LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade highlight just a few of the amazing players that came out. A GM could close his eyes and pick an all star, it seemed. Then came Darko Milicic with the 2nd overall pick by the Detroit Pistons. The 7ft Serbian was supposed to reinvent the position despite his raw skills. Instead he languished away on the Detroit bench before becoming a journeyman and eventually falling out of the league at 28 years old. Rough.
