The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Arizona Cardinals with a controversial catch to win 27-23
When Super Bowl XLIII started on February 1, 2009, both the Steelers and the Cardinals walked into Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay ready to play. Neither could predict the stress inducing back and forth between the teams that eventually saw the Steelers come out on top.
At the start of the 4th quarter, the Cardinals only had 7 points to Pittsburgh’s 20. In what looked like an amazing comeback for Arizona, Kurt Warner threw not one but two touchdowns to Larry Fitzgerald. But then the Steeler’s star player Ben Roethlisberger managed to toss a six-yard scoring strike with just 42 seconds left on the clock.
Neither team has returned for a Super Bowl since, but this game will go down as one of the best Super Bowls ever.
